I am a wife, a mom, a daughter, and friend to many. My husband and I currently live in Central Florida where we enjoy golfing, biking the endless Central Florida bike trails, camping, the theater, gardening, making soap, bath bombs, and candles, crafting with the Cricut, and doing home renovations. Weekends frequently find us escaping to New England: Boston, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, or the Northern area of New York such as Albany, Syracuse, or Saratoga. If our horses are racing then Louisville calls our name and off we go.
I love nothing more than a cold, rainy, day in the mountains curled up with a book in front of the fireplace, yet beachside with surf spray hitting my face is just as perfect.
My name is Dawn Schramm and I am currently teaching middle school mathematics in Seminole County, Florida; this is my fourth year with Seminole County Public Schools. I have been teaching for eight years and began my professional journey in education with Osceola County Public Schools and Florida Virtual School.
I have a real classroom, in a brick and mortar building, but it sits vacant as I am teaching virtually this year; not with pre-made curriculum, but teacher made curriculum. I teach the same curriculum my peers at school teach, however, my students and I login to WebEx at set times, just as if they were in a traditional setting. It sounds much easier than the reality is.
In addition to teaching mathematics, I am the Connected Learning Mentor at my school, meaning I get to help other teachers with technology. Technology is my passion, my first computer was a Commodore 64 (C64), an 8-bit computer with 64 kilobytes of memory and Commodore BASIC. From that day forward, I was a computer and technology geek.
I received my Bachelor's degree from Western Governors University, in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am currently working on my Master's degree in Advanced Studies - Online Learning & Teaching / Adult & Continuing Education. My degree goal is to earn my Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction - Online Education starting in January 2022.
